Category:Perl Guilds
This category contains pages related to Perl Guilds: its purposes, essays, projects, guilds, and efforts to support independent Perl programmers in the practice of their trade.
Perl Guilds draws upon the traditional idea of craftsmen learning, traveling, mastering a trade, forming apprentices, preserving knowledge, and supporting one another through useful work.
Its purpose is not to impose a compulsory professional organization or restrict entry into programming. It seeks to encourage voluntary associations through which Perl programmers can:
- preserve and share practical knowledge;
- develop marketable specialties;
- form and encourage new programmers;
- cooperate on projects;
- serve users and communities;
- and earn a just and sustainable livelihood through their labor.
The Perl Lazarus Project and The Virtuous Perl Programmer essays are two expressions of this larger work.
